I'm challenging amateur radio operators in the United States to call out on 146.52MHz for 52 days in an effort to generate more FM simplex activity on the 2 meter band. This is not meant to be complicated and there are no logs to keep or submit.
Just call CQ on 146.52 for 52 days. It's that simple.
I started the challenge on March 1, 2026 and aim to complete it by April 30, so there's plenty of time if some days are missed. Whether it's during a work commute, a SOTA or POTA activations, or just a walk around the neighborhood, there's plenty of opportunity to get on the air and try to make a contact.
Not only is this a great way to get more activity on 146.52, but it's also a great way for new hams and Technicians to make some simplex contacts. Even experienced hams can learn about propagation and ways they could improve their stations.
On Saturday, May 2, I will do a livestream giveaway on YouTube, to celebrate the success of the challenge and share experiences from myself and guests. There will be some great radio and antenna prizes thanks to Radioddity and others.
Please be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel for updates on the Challenge and livestream giveaway. And remember, leave no band behind!
My amateur radio call sign is N2MAK and I enjoy portable operations, like Parks on the Air (POTA), Summits on the Air (SOTA), and VHF contesting. I share my ham radio adventures on my YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@MikeN2MAK and merchandise to support it can be purchased online at https://miken2mak.myspreadshop.com/.
